I recently ombred my hair, which was kinda a big deal for since it was only the second time I ever dyed my hair, and now I seem to be obsessed with not only awesome ombre hair but also with hair accessories!

John and I have taken our pumpkin carving project to an even crazier level!

We decided that this week we would buy a pumpkin and instead of carving it, we would cut it in a different way so we could make yummy pumpkin treats out of it and let me say, it was a success!

John and I have continued to do our pumpkin creations once every week so here is week three!

We decided we wanted to carve 'specialty' pumpkins (ones not normally grown for carving, more eating). I went with the cookie cutter carving idea and John went with the shaving tool idea. In my opinion they both turned out great. What do you think?

I love pumpkin carving and so does John Choura. So we have decided to carve pumpkins every week this month and each time it will be something different. This is the first post of our pumpkin project.

OMBRE PUMPKIN CANDLE HOLDERS

As you all know I love ombre so when I was able to jump on the chance to do it to pumpkins I did. We took 3 mini pumpkins ranging in color from dark orange to a light yellow-orange, cut off the top, gutted the center, and put tea candles inside. It made for a great halloween decoration in the middle of the table.

I am so excited to share this new idea with you guys!

So I was thinking yesterday about how I tend to live in two worlds when it comes to passions of mine. I went to school for design and I am trying to make a career out of it. On the other hand I love to spend time perfecting my baking skills and making yummy treats for everyone. So why not combine to two worlds?

I have decided that every time I make a tasty treat I am going to blog about it AND THEN brand it! Genius, right?

So the above logo is my first go at it.

What do you guys think, is it as great of an idea as I think it is?

Last October my boyfriend John Choura and I got a little extra creative with our pumpkin carving. The above images are the two pumpkins we ended up with; mine being the floral and his being the wood.

Two ideas we came across last year to make pumpkin carving easier:

1. Use an xacto knife to do the carving. The little plastic tools they sell at Albertsons just doesn't cut it (pun!) when you're trying to be detailed.

2. Use Christmas lights to light up the inside rather than a candle. The candle melts, goes out fast and can make the pumpkin rot faster on the inside but Christmas lights can last for as long as you need them too.

I recently bought Martha Stewarts new COOKIE APP and it has totally amped up my baking life. It is extremely well designed and it features special cookie recipes that you can't find on any other Martha Stewart blog or website.

I just made her SMOKEY BACON GINGER COOKIES and I have to say it is probably the best cookie I have ever made. I was nervous because I have never been a big bacon in sweets kinda girl but these were great. I now want to branch out into other bacon treats!

What do you think? Should bacon be allowed in sweet treats?

The semester before I graduated from Biola myself and a few others designed a poster lookbook for the Biola Art Department to send out to prospective students. It was awesome because we each got to take our own design styles and put them all together as one. I think it ended up VERY successful.

About a month ago a client came to me wanting a sign made for a little boy's 3rd birthday party. It was firetruck themed so they wanted something that had a firetruck and the number 3. It was super fun and I ended up with the above image. I realized that I really enjoy making 'child like' design. It came so easy to me and the ideas just kept flowing. I couldn't be happier with the result!

We all know the saying 'No white after Labor Day' and I never really understood what it meant until this year. Summer is technically over after Labor Day and fall begins! With that being said people say save the white for the summer and start wearing fall colors.

Well it still feels like summer here in Southern California so I know people are still rockin the shorts, tank tops and dresses. I say keep the white going! As you can tell from the pics above there are plenty of ways to keep white in the mix while still adding some fall colors and/or fall items like jackets and pants well at least until real fall weather and festives roll around.

For those of you who have yet to be introduced to one of my favorite blogs of all time you are in for a real treat: THE BEAUTY DEPARTMENT It is a beauty blog that was started with Lauren Conrad and her hair stylist and makeup artist. The blog gives great tips about hair, makeup and beauty trends as well as gives tutorials on how to do the tips they share!

During the 4th of July LC and her hair stylist did a tutorial on how to dye the tips of your hair in a super chic way. You can find that here. So after reading that I really wanted to do it. I had never dyed my hair before so this was a pretty crazy risk but so worth it. My wonderful friends did it for me and it turned out to be a great summer look (at the time). Above is a picture of it 2 weeks in so it was a little faded but I still loved it.
